There are over 400 varieties of birds in Sri Lanka in diverse environment such as jungles, forests, lowlands, hills, mountains, dry and wet zones. The best places for the bird watching are the Sinharaja Rain Forest, Kitulgala, as well Horton Plains, Bundala National Park, Yala National Park, Udawalawe National Park, Weerawila National Park.

The best time for watching is from November to April, however the most particularly is in February and March where you can find plenty of migratory species.
