Day 1: Arrival-Anuradhapura
Welcome to Sri Lanka. Meet and great with your guide at the airport. Proceed through beautiful tropical scenery around you, as well get to know local traffic that is really fascinating. After few hours check in to hotel in ANURADHAPURA, leisure, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Wilpattu National Park-Mihintale
Early morning experience jeep safari adventure in WILPATTU NATIONAL PARK. It is the large park and one of the oldest parks on the island; it is not very often visited by tourists that’s why it gives more authentic and original experience; park is famous for its large leopard and elephant populations.Back to hotel, little rest. Afternoon go for a little trek towards a peak of MIHINATALE; at this place was introduced one of the oldest philosophies, considered as a cradel of Buddhism in Sri Lanka; over 1800 steps towards the top with large white statue of sitting Buddha.Back to hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Jaffna
In the morning continue your way to the north part of Sri Lanka, to JAFFNA. It is capital of the north. Discover completely different „world“ from other parts of the island; Tamil cultural and local life, sometimes reminding more of India, different language, decorated Hindu Temples, colonial churches, ladies dressed in colourful sarees, remains of civil war; fascinating place that retains a flavour and rich history and culture.Walk inside The Fort, set on peninsula at the waters edge of the lagoon; the second largest fort in the island; built by Portugeese and re-built by Dutch, in regular pentagon. Then visit Jaffna Library, one of the oldest public libraries in Sri Lanka. Also worth to visit is local market. Transfer to hotel, resting evening, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Jaffna & Around
Today visit one of Jaffna islands. Island Nainativu, where you will get by a boat ferry from the port; this island is a home to two important temples; colorful Hindu Temple Naga Pooshani Ambal Kovil and modest but significant The Buddhist Temple of Nagadipa Vihara, the place visited by Buddha during his second visit to Sri Lanka; both Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims flock to Nainativu Island daily to worship these temples
.Late afternoon visit Jaffna’s the most impressive sight and one of the most siginificant places of worship in Sri Lanka, majestic Nallur Kandaswamy Temple; Hindu Temple dedicated to Murugan; the finest Hindu temple in the island; go there during evening ceremony. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Point Pedro-Trincomalee
In the morning visit the northenmost tip in Sri Lanka – Point Pedro; concrete flag of Sri Lanka sits on the egde of the shore.
Continue your way to east part of the island. On the way you will pass town of Kilinochchi, where the Tamil Tigers had their headquarters throughtout the civil war; a striking war memorial, a massive fallen water tower bombed by Tamil Tigers in the final stage of civil war, still there can be seen many destroyed buildings and churches from civil war time.
Arrive to TRINCOMALEE, check in to hotel, resting evening and overnight.
Day 6: Trincomalee
After breakfast transfer to chosen beach hotel for few days of relaxing.Today you will discover TRINCOMALEE, one of the most beautiful places in the island; sitting on one of the world’s famous natural harbour.
The east coast is still different from the western one, less tourisits, quiet and real authenticity; marked by civil war and tsunami, but still remains beautiful nature and colonial appereance.
You will walk along Fort Frederick, originally built by Portugese, only a part of the fortress is open to public; a walk will lead you to Swami Rock, where is a wounderful view of the surrouding area and the whole city, towards to the top of the famous oneswaram Hindu Temple, surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery on all sides, temple dedicted to Hindu god Shiva, „temple of thousands of pillars“; if you are lukcy, you might see traditional Hidnu worship ceremony.
One more spot you shouldn’t miss out during a season on East Coast is Pigeon Island, national park, which boasts a fine array of live coral and plenty of tropical fish; ideal spot for snorkelling. Back to hotel, leisure evening. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Passikudah
Transfer to PASSIKUDAH, sometimes called as „a local Maldives“, with its turquoise blue water and white-golden sandy beach. Relaxing day on the beach.
Day 8: Passikudah
Relaxing day on the beach.
Day 9: Passikudah-Habarana
Spend leisure on the beach. Late afternoon proceed inland to HABARANA. Evening you can go for traditional ayurvedic massage to the one of the finest center far around. (optional). Dinner and overnight
Day 10: Sigiriya-Departure
In the morning star with a bit of sport and climb 200 meters rising up citadel of unusual beauty, SIGIRIYA- The Lion Rock, The Rock Fortress, “The Eighth Wonder of the World”; follow the steps of King Kassapa; 1200 steps ahead; and at the end the best, top of the rock fortress with the spectacular view. UNESCO heritage.
Back to hotel, have a late brekfast. Transfer to the airport for your evening departure.
